Hi beauties! Yesterday I posted a picture of this outfit on Instagram and asked you guys if there's anything I can share with you that might be useful or insightful. I got a lot of great questions (thank you!) so I've decided to start a 'ASK ME ANYTHING' series. For part one lets start at the beginning.

@jaclynnavarro: How did you start up your career? What steps did you take in the beginning?

Great question, let's start with a bit of backstory for context. I've ALWAYS wanted a career in fashion. I think I was born with the 'obsessed with fashion' gene because as far back as I can remember, I've dreamed of working in the fashion industry. At 15 I got my dream job (at the time) working part-time at a clothing store at the local mall. I was hooked on retail and loved helping customers put looks together. That feeling of helping someone look their best is very rewarding, I LOVED it. At 18 I moved from Halifax to Toronto to study fashion in university and noticed right away I enjoyed the marketing side of the industry the most (I'm terrible at sewing and still can't sew on a button to save my life). I then worked as a marketing coordinator + trend reporter for a large beauty company. This was around the time when Facebook was everything. They didn't have an social accounts set up at the time so I pitched all my idea's to my boss and was given the keys to run wild with it. I was able to create great content and ultimately grew their following. I then moved into the freelance world around the time Instagram came onto the scene. I decided to start a blog of my own and have been working my ass off ever since. So back to the original question, the important steps here were gaining experience and taking the time to learn about the industry I wanted to be apart of. There's so much that goes into building a brand and starting a blog. I'm not sure I would have know where to start if I didn't have that experience. This question is inspiring me to start a Blogging 101 series. Leave a comment below if you're into that.
