7:00 // WAKE UP
I wake up at the same time everyday despite not really having to be anywhere at a specific time. I learned the importance of stabilizing your circadian rhythm and having a daily routine when I first made the jump into freelance. It would be easy to sleep in when you work from home but as someone who experiences anxiety from time to time, it’s important to set a routine + schedule for your mind & body.
8:00 // MOVEMENT + BREATHING
I wake up with a list of 101 things I have to get done that day, my mind starts to go a bit crazy and I often feel overwhelmed when I have a lot on my plate. When you're self employed and passionate about your career, there's always something productive you want to be doing. I know this isn't rational or a healthy way to start my day so I've made it a priority to get in some movement and breathing before I touch or read emails or scroll through IG. Not only does stretching help with stiffness, I meditate as a go through the stretches, trying to breath as much as possible to control any anxiety I might be feeling.
When I can, I go for a walk in the park or along the lake and bring my Super Elixir Alkalizing Formula (2 tsp. + water) with me to sip on the way. I usually end up being at my desk for a few hours depending on what I’m working on that week. I spend time planning upcoming shoots, sourcing new outfits, locations, upcoming collaborations and catch up on blog posts. I'm currently designing a fashion collaboration with an amazing Canadian brand so that's been insanely fun and also keeps me busy.
11 // PULL IT TOGETHER
If I'm shooting content for my blog or IG that day, it's time to jump into the shower, blow dry my hair, do my make up and choose my outfit for the day. I love getting ready, I always have. I find blow-drying + applying make up therapeutic. I enjoy dialling in and being creative.
12:30 // TIME TO CREATE
Once I'm ready, I pack a bag with snacks, shoes + outfits and my husband Jose and I are off to shoot downtown for the rest of the day. If there's a blogger event or media preview that day, I'll also squeeze that in. Once we get the shots we need, we break for a late lunch. This is also another good time to check in with emails + social media. There's a lot of moving parts with what we both do as social media influencers so when we're not working on my brand, we're working on his. It's such a blessing to be able to work with your husband. Having a great teammate in business and life to share your passions with is inspiring and very rewarding.
